1. He made shavings of wood and put them under the rock, then he made sparks by hitting the hatchet against the rock, then the sparks burst into flames.
2. Because he had finally made a fire after so long of not having a fire

3. He made a pool of water in the lake where the fish came in then they couldn't get out, so he could just pick them up right out of the water

ReplyDelete1) first he tried to use dried grass, bark,and small stick. Then he used the birch tree bark. And cut it into tiny pieces.

1) He used dry grass, twigs, bark, and bark shavings. He had to strike his hatchet to make sparks a few times and then blow on the sparks
2) He felt so accomplished that he could make it and he didn't have anyone to talk to so he felt like it was his friend.

1) He was more slim than he was. He looked not like a city boy anymore.
2) When he was hearing things, his mind would register it. He would look for the sound and really see it not just notice it.
3) He would get a flaming stick and take it to the roof of his shelter to light the bonfire he built.

1. He got rocks and put them in a circle and filled it with grass and bark shavings. He then struck a rock with the hatchet and blew on the sparks.

2. His mind was different since the crash because he would actually know and feel what that thing is instead of just barely noticing it.

ReplyDelete1. The steps Brian took to start a fire were: he tried grass and twigs, then a combination of the two, then a $20 bill, then birch wood, then birch wood chopped fine like hair in a pile with an indention to catch the sparks and finally he blew on the sparks to start the fire.
2.Brian felt the fire was like his friend because it was all he had to keep him safe, warm and could be used as a signal.
Chapter 10
1.Brian found turtle eggs on the shore.
2.In the middle of the night a turtle had laid the eggs.
3. Brian ate the eggs by using the sharp end of the hatchet to sharpen a stick and he poked a hole in it and sucked the inside out.
